HealthCare Providers

HealthCare Benefits, Inc. is the plan sponsor and administrator of an employee benefits trust that was established over 30 years ago specifically and exclusively for hospitals, healthcare systems, and other healthcare providers. This trust was established initially by The Hospital Association of Pennsylvania (HAP).

The HealthCare Benefits Trust is an employee benefits Trust program developed for healthcare providers that delivers proprietary plan designs, service, and pricing for Disability (STD and LTD), Life, AD&D and Dental Insurance.

Proprietary Plans

The Trust negotiates with its carriers to provide plan designs not elsewhere available that are developed based on the needs of healthcare providers. An example of this unique design is the RN Recruitment Benefit. This provision provides an incremental financial benefit to healthcare employers, for agency, overtime, recruitment or other expenses in the event of an RN going out on LTD. Our LTD contracts also include as standard an RN Specialty Definition of Disability. This provision provides more clarity to an occupation that today is very broad in terms of evaluating functional capacity and return to work potential.

These benefit provisions are two examples of product differences developed exclusively for the HealthCare Benefits Trust. Generally speaking, because of the Trust’s scale and history, we are also able to develop underwriting offers superior to those available outside the Trust. This can be especially important when providing benefit programs to Physicians, Administrators, or as part of Flexible benefit plans.

Proprietary Services

HealthCare Benefits is in the business of providing services to Healthcare providers. We count as clients some of the Country’s largest healthcare providers, and also work with small community hospitals, ancillary healthcare providers, nursing homes, and physician’s groups. We understand the business of healthcare, and have developed a wealth of experience in the areas of benefit plan design, communication, and financing.

Our business service model includes responsibility for ERISA compliance requirements, premium collection, reconciliation and remittance, and improved cash flow for hospitals. Because we work with so many healthcare providers, we can also provide comparative analysis in terms of plan design. Examples include flexible benefit design, and STD alternatives for healthcare providers moving from sick leave to PTO arrangements.

Proprietary Pricing

We work with some of the industry’s largest underwriters of these benefits, and have their assurance that our pricing and expense levels are the most competitive they are able and prepared to offer. Better pricing and expense levels translate in to lower rates, longer rate guarantees, and better pricing stability.
